DOME
8 " TELESCOPE
The specifications of the 8 inch telescope are:
Diameter of primary mirror : 200 mm ( 8 inches)
Focal length : 1000 mm
Mount : equatorial
Finderscope : 9 x 50
Tripod : 2 inch thick stainless steel
The telescope has a built-in database of over 40,000 objects in the sky. Through a hand-held control panel, it is possible to slew the telescope to specified targets.

CCD
One of the two main back end instruments on the telescope is a ST-7E CCD camera. The camera has an array of 765 x 510 pixels, with each pixel of dimension 9 micron. The CCD can be cooled to sub-zero temperatures with an internal thermoelectric cooler. The camera also has a built-in preamplifier, a 16 bit A/D converter and an electromechanical shutter to cut-off all external light. The A/D converter digitizes the data in the CCD for storage in the host computer. The CCD is interfaced with a computer through USB ports.
The CFW10 filter wheel allows imaging in different wavelength bands. The wheel has slots for holding up to 10 filters at a time. When attached to the camera, the filter wheel receives power and control commands through the 12C accessory port of the camera. The filter wheel can be calibrated and rotated through commands from the host computer.
